We the Dingle family would like to welcome you to our humble family holiday home based in the heart of the Panorama Route Graskop. This home has been in our family for 17 years. We decided to relocate to Hoedspruit that is about 85 kilometres from Graskop a couple of years ago, a business decision. Mark the co-owner has lived in Graskop for 35 years and Manja for 7 years.
With our passion for Graskop we decided to convert our once family home into a self-catering Holiday home to share the splendours of the Lowveld and the Panorama Route with travellers alike. We hope that your stay with us will be filled with happy memories and that you will be able to create your own exciting tales upon visiting the must-see sites.
Graskop is a small town in Mpumalanga South Africa. The name Graskop is an Afrikaans word meaning Grassy Hills, the word Mpumalanga means the place where the sun rises. In Graskop you will see spectacular sunrises over the Escarpment of the Lowveld.
In 1837 Andries Potgieter passed through Graskop with the Groot trek of the Voortrekkers, searching for greener pastures to the North of Southern Africa. In his memoirs, he mentions leaving the woman folk in the area known as Graskop while he went searching for an ox wagon route down the Escarpment to Delagoa bay (Maputo Mozambique).
In the 1850’s the land Where Graskop is situated belonged to Abel Erasmus, he was the Native Commissioner of the Transvaal Republic.
Graskop was established in the 1880’s as a mining town on the farm. The town has its existence to thank to the gold rush that took the Lowveld of the Old Transvaal by storm in the 1880’s.
Graskop is also well known for the part it played in the tale of Jock of the Bushveld.
If you do not feel like cooking and would like to give mom a well-deserved rest, feel free to visit the Restaurants in town, also keep in mind this is a holiday town and service is also in a holiday manner, so take a lot of patience and remember that you are also on holiday and just enjoy the ambiance, maybe laugh a little and enjoy yourself as well.
